We have a tradition in our family of visiting the state fair every summer. The kids love to see all the animals and exhibits. It’s alot of fun to walk around with them for hours and watch them see things for the first time (or the first time in their memory). This year, we were blessed with wonderful weather, great parking and minimal crowds. It really pays to get there as soon as the gates open! After a day at the fair, we enjoyed spending the night at The Legacy Center on the campus of Southern Seminary. Shane and I love to stay there because it is beautiful, clean, safe, and comes with a wonderful ammenity for us- lots of green grassy spaces for little boys to run and play. The boys were both thrilled and shocked to see a crazy thing called a sofa bed. They couldn’t believe that the couch actually turned into a bed (it’s all about the little things), and were more than willing to sleep there. They enjoyed swimming at the pool in Southern’s recreation center and were totally tuckered out by bedtime. We capped the weekend off by joining Bethany Baptist Church in worship, along with some dear friends from Main Street Baptist our beloved “home” church. All in all, it was a great weekend. We already can’t wait to go back to the fair next year.
