It’s a huge undertaking but I’ve already got my toe stuck in the water. I am in the beginning stages of my studies at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Four years from now, Lord willing, I will be the proud owner of one PhD in Family Ministry.
What on earth will I do with such a tool? My desire is to teach at the collegiate level in courses revolving around ministry to the family. Whether it is components of the family, such as children or youth, or courses on the family as a unit will not matter to me. Either way I will strive to educate young ministers about the family, the first institution established by God. How does it funciton today? What is God’s purpose for the family? How can it be preserved after undergoing such destruciton over the past many years? These are all questions I hope to dive into head first with ministry students so they may be better equipped to take the love of Christ to families in desperate need of His hope.
